� MISSION � The STATEMENT mission of the College of Education is the preparation

� MISSION � The STATEMENT mission of the College of Education is the preparation of professional educators and allied practitioners, including professionals in business information systems, counseling, electronic media, and librarianship. Significant in this mission is a strong commitment to three important related areas, all of which are realized through partnership and other endeavors. These three areas are:

� MISSION STATEMENT (CONTINUED) 1) the encouragement and nurturing of professional growth for educators

� MISSION STATEMENT (CONTINUED) 1) the encouragement and nurturing of professional growth for educators and allied practitioners at all levels and in all areas of the educational endeavor. 2) A continuing emphasis on and support for scholarship and research/creative activity. 3) And service in all areas of professional education.

� The College of Education leads the state in the production of new education

� The College of Education leads the state in the production of new education professionals, and our graduates continue to have the highest employment rate in North Carolina schools. � The goal of the College of Education is to train education professionals who are prepared to offer people of all ages an education for a new century. To do that, the college has worked actively to integrate 21 st-century skills, increase access to the college through distance education, institute new assessment systems and electronic portfolios, and accept new degree program proposals.
