Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans • Cover Education, Health and Care • Children are at the centre of the plan • Parents must be involved in developing and evaluating the plan • The plans focus on outcomes, with a clear view on how resources will be allocated • Cover Further Education as well as schools

Challenges • Biggest change for a generation – a major culture shift for, schools, education department, social care and health - new ways of working are still bedding in. • The new assessment process is better, but more time consuming – and the statutory timeframe is shorter • Providing statutory advice within revised timeframes is a significant challenge for Health and Social Care. • About 920 Statements. Carrying out the conversions well – not just a paper exercise – is a massive task

Transition planning; children’s and adults’ services working together. • 0 – 25 because – A young person may need additional time to complete a course of study; not – That anyone with an EHCP should expect to stay in education until they are 25
