The last 2 months: Responding to pandemic Thankyou to EVERYONE • • Rapidly moved all activities to remote operation Enabled continued support of students & their education Recognition of the unique & diverse challenging circumstances for each individual Staff supported to do what they can in context of own personal circumstances
Next phase: Adaptation & Renewal Working together as a COMMUNITY is even more important • • Managing and planning for the new way of hybrid teaching and working Phased return to work on campus: If you can work from home you should continue to do so Supporting and developing all staff and students during this phase Learning from experience and adopting those aspects that will benefit us in future Our combined creativity & support will allow us to emerge stronger & more resilient to future challenges
Undergraduate Teaching & Learning update Current activity. • Completion of UG Year 3 and 4 assessment activity, Bo. E, Progression Boards. • Student Recruitment Activity i. Offer Conversion - New Students - September 2020 - Virtual Offer Holder Days. ii. UG Student Recruitment AY 2021 -22 - Virtual Open Days (July 2 nd / 3 rd) Preparing for Teaching in September. • All UG programmes will start as scheduled on September 21 st 2020. • Hybrid Teaching Model - blend of remote delivery with an on-campus experience. Estates / H&S – Capacity Modelling of teaching estate - first week in June Timetabling Requirements (Friday 10 th July) / Curriculum modelling support Assessment – possibly a limited scheduled diet in Dec (remote)
Undergraduate Teaching & Learning update Support for transition to Hybrid Teaching (and learning) Model. • Deanery - BMTO / local expertise – Online PGT, ZJE • College – Learning technology guidance and support – training opportunities • University - Edinburgh Hybrid Teaching Exchange – IAD Wordpress site Student Support – PT system not changing BMTO / Teviot building access – no definite dates but planning group established Contributing to teaching – co-ordination across EMS by Jim Nisbet

Planning the Return to Work (Rt. W) on Campus If you can work from home you should continue to do so. H&S of staff and students priority • Lab-based research can start in Phase 2 of Scottish Government’s “Scotland’s route map through and out of the crisis”. Expectation of significantly reduced capacity. • It is anticipated that the earliest Phase 2 can be initiated is 19 th June • Buildings (HRB, 1 GSq, CB) are currently being assessed to determine how they can meet new H&S guidance – new working practices will be communicated as soon as they are agreed • All PIs have submitted a Rt. W plan and it is hoped that all labs will be able to undertake their highest-priority lab-based research in the initial reopening phase with reduced capacity • PIs will need to provide a new risk assessment to comply with COVID-19 H&S guidelines • Shift-working patterns will be adopted • We need to ensure that individuals who continue/need to work remotely are supported
