Plan Finish the plan – 5 mins “all mixed up together like bees in a hive” Image of bees – Mr Birling is reducing socialists to insects… ironic because bees achieve a lot by working together… Priestley is showing how idiotic Birling is by using this natural image. Priestley was a socialist and he ridicules Birling to make a comment about the dangers of capitalism. Social responsibility “Millions of Eva Smiths” – Analyse the image – masses of poor people just like Eva. The Inspector is Preistley’s mouthpiece. He wants to challenge the audience and society to change their ideas about class and poverty.
