What is Ecstasy? Ecstasy is the name commonly given to Metheylene Dioxy Meth Amphetamine (MDMA). Ecstasy is a pill size drug often made from backyards. Ecstasy is illegal in Australia, and its ingredients are often hard to obtain. Because ecstasy can be made a backyard labs it leads to wide variations in drug quality. Street names The street names for ecstasy are "E", "XTC", "eccy", "the love drug".
How is Ecstasy used? • Ecstasy is normally taken in it’s tablet form. The tablet comes in various colours, shapes, size and design. Most people take ecstasy in it’s tablet by swallowing it. Ecstasy can also taken by it being crushed or snorted. Some people also insert ecstasy up the anus into the anus. This is known as “shafting” or “shelving”.
Effects of ecstasy • • • Immediate effects Many people have experienced the following effects soon after taking ecstasy: increase in confidence feelings of well being feelings of closeness to others, hence the term "love drug" anxiety dilated pupils jaw clenching, teeth grinding increase in heart rate, body temperature and blood pressure nausea loss of appetite sweating. • • Higher doses Higher quantities don't appear to enhance the desirable effects and may cause: convulsions (fits) vomiting floating sensations irrational or bizarre behaviour hallucinations.
