History • It is a record of the past. • Historians use two types of sources to learn about the past: Primary and Secondary • Primary Source: A source that provides information about a person or event that was taken from that time period or was actually witnessed at the time. • (diary, old newspaper or photograph, artifact, original documents) • Secondary Source: A source that provides information about a person or event that was not witnessed or taken from that time • period, but rather given as second hand knowledge. (textbook, biography, encyclopedia, non-fiction book)
