Autotroph Makes its own food Energy: Sunlight Substances: CO 2 and Water Process: Photosynthesis Other Name: Producer http: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=pdgku. T 12 e 14

Heterotroph Obtains its own food Energy: Other animals Process: Eating Other Name: Consumer

Types of Heterotrophs § Herbivore: Eat PLANTS ONLY § Example: Grasshopper

Types of Heterotrophs § Carnivore: Eat MEAT ONLY § Example: Lion

Types of Heterotrophs § Omnivore: Eat PLANTS AND ANIMALS § Example: Humans

Types of Heterotrophs § Saprophyte / Scavengers: Eats REMAINS of organisms § Example: Bacteria / Fungus

Relationships § Symbiotic: Close relationship § Neither Benefits

Relationships § Parasitism: One benefits the other is harmed. Parasite – benefits, Host harmed § Example: Flea and Tick

Relationships § Mutualism: Both organisms benefit § Example: Algae and Lichen

Relationships § Commensalism: One benefits the other is not harmed.
