Eaton arc flash relay system • The Eaton arc flash relay (EAFR) system is a combination of arc flash relay modules and sensors designed to detect and clear arc flash events in low- and medium-voltage electrical assemblies © 2016 Eaton. All rights reserved. 3

Arc fault protection philosophy • Speed—no intentional delays • Less than 2 ms relay operate time • Sensitive • Current set-points just above loads, sensitive ground-fault set points • Selectivity • Trip-only affected feeder(s) • Secure—dual-sensing prevents false trips • Phase and ground instantaneous overcurrent elements act as a permissive for the light sensing inputs • Self monitoring • System monitors all internal system functions along with external connections between modules, light sensors or loops and current transformers © 2016 Eaton.
