Different Types of Nursing Degrees Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) Bachelors Degree of Science in Nursing (BSN) • Two years of education that fulfills the • Four years of education that fulfills the requirements to become an RN • This degree is offered by Community Colleges requirements to become an RN. More general education and a wide range of nursing specialties • This degree is offered by 4 year Universities
ENC RIBN Curriculum • Year 1 – ENC RIBN students complete general education courses for both the Associates and Baccalaureate degree programs and are concurrently enrolled in the designated community college and ECU • Year 2 – ENC RIBN students enter the two-year Associates Degree program at the Community College year 2 fall semester and remain concurrently enrolled at ECU • Year 3 – ENC RIBN students complete the ADN and NCLEX-RN is successfully completed • Year 4 – ENC RIBN students complete a BSN degree

Financial Aid for RIBN Students • Financial Aid is available for RIBN students • FAFSA needs to be filled out through Community College • The first 3 years of the program, financial aid is available through the community college • On scholarship applications note that you have applied to RIBN • The 4 th year financial aid is available through ECU • Any questions about scholarships before you apply, please ask the Student Success Advocates!
Minimum High School Course Requirements • Four units of English • Two units of Social Studies (one in US History) • Four units of Math (algebra I, algebra II, geometry, and an advanced math beyond algebra II) • Three units of science (life science, physical science, and a laboratory science: biology and chemistry preferred) • Two units of a language other than English **If these have not been met, the student will have to take the course at a community college to meet the ENC RIBN admission requirements
Requirements to apply to ENC RIBN • Must have at least a 3. 0 unweighted GPA in high school courses • If applicant has taken more than 12 credit hours in college, must have at least a 3. 0 GPA • Must have the SAT or ACT Exam Component SAT Reading/Writing 500 Math 530 Total Score 1030 Exam Component ACT Reading 22 English 21 Math 22
