EASTERN NIGERIA UNION CONFERENCE REPORT ON AAIM ACTIVITIES AT AAIM TRI-DIVISION ADVISORY ECD HEADQUARTERS July 2 -5, 2018
Eastern Nigeria Union Conference is one of the three Union Conferences in Nigeria. It is comprised of churches in the Eastern region of Nigeria(which is made up of 10 states out of the 36 states in Nigeria). .
ENUC has one hundred and forty-seven thousand four hundred and twenty nine(147, 429) membership with six hundred and seventy-nine churches(679).
AAIM became popular in ENUC after AAIM advisory held in the union on September 20 th to 22 nd 2017 with Dr Llaguno and Dr Ndaa(WAD Health Ministries Director) present.
Currently Twenty churches in our Union are involved in AAIM activities. The activities done ranges from Health education, symposia, HIV counselling/testing.
There was widespread HIV education in our churches on 25 th of November 2017 to mark the HIV sabbath during which members had to opportunities of asking HIV related questions that have confused/disturbed them in the past.
MAINSTREAMING WITH OTHER CHURCH DEPARTMENTS
Sabbath school department collaborated with Health ministries department to conduct Health education in some churches like Rumuokania church and Abuloma Church in Port Harcourt Conference.
Personal ministry department added HCT services in health expo held by Nkoro Church in Aba South Conference
Students in Ignatius Ajuro University of Education, Rumuolumeni(PH Conference), under the Public Campus Ministries partnered with Health Ministries department to conduct health expo and HCT services.
Family life department of Rumukwurushi(Port Harcourt Conference) held a health symposium in collaboration with the health ministries department

HEALTH INSTITUITIONS IN THE UNION
ENUC’s major hospital is Seventh. Day Adventist Hospital, Aba. SDA hospital Ubakala is under construction. There are three(3) fuctional clinics in three(3) of our five(5)(ASTEC, ACHS, ATESS, ACC, SNSHS, ATHIS) secondary schools.
Some of the secondary schools are involved in visitation to orpharnage home and care of vulnerable children.
The major health institution we have is Seventh-Day Adventist Hospital and motherless babies’ home, Aba which is a comprehensive HIV treatment center.
HIV Programs in the hospital include • HCT(VCT/Provider Initiated counselling and testing) • ARV treatment • PMTCT • Circumcision* • Care for the Orphans and Vulnerable children • Support group
The motherless babies’ home currently have a HIV positive orphan who was picked up from the road under her care. He was picked up in November 2018 and currently 3 years plus at the moment. He is receiving ARV at the moment.
AAIM in ENUC is actually at the cradle stage, but have a lot of potentials because we have large grounds to cover.
In the future we will be calling for helps to aid us do greater work as the need arises. It is our believes that the helps will come when we call for them.
