Easter Story

Jesus was gathered with his disciples having a meal when he told them he was going to die. He took bread, gave thanks to the Lord and broke it. He then passed the bread out to his disciples and said “ take and eat; this is my body.

Jesus next took a cup gave thanks and filled it with wine. He then said “drink this it is my blood”.

Then Jesus and his disciples went to the garden of Gethsemane. He told his disciples to wait for him while he went and prayed. While Jesus was on his own he prayed to his father saying “ My father if it’s possible may I not have to face this, but I will follow your will for me”.

While Jesus was praying in the garden one of his disciples named Judas was planning on selling Jesus to the soldiers. Judas had arranged for the soldiers to follow him to the garden and he was to kiss Jesus to show the soldiers who Jesus was.

The soldiers then took Jesus to Pilate , but Pilate did not think Jesus was guilty of any crime. Pilate wanted to let Jesus go but he was afraid that the religious officials would report him to Rome.

Pilate then took Jesus out to the crowd and asked what shall I do with Jesus. The crowd then started to yell “Crucify him, Crucify him”. When Pilate saw that the crowd wanted to crucify an innocent man he took water and washed his hands and said “I have nothing to do with this mans death” and handed Jesus over to be crucified.

When Jesus was handed over to be crucified the soldiers took him tied him to a pole and started to whip him until he was bleeding.

After they had whipped him they made him carry his cross to where he would be crucified. While walking to where he would be crucified the people yelled and spitted at him.

Jesus was crucified between to criminals and while on the cross they put a crown of thorns on his head and sign over his head that said “king of the Jews”

On the third day of Jesus’ death two women went to his tomb, but when they got to the tomb it was open and Jesus was not there. Suddenly an angel was sitting on the stone of the tomb say to the two women “do not be afraid Jesus is not here he has risen.
