• Easter is the time when people celebrate the resurrection of Christ from the dead.

• The Sunday before Easter Sunday is called Palm Sunday. It’s the beginning of the Holy Week. • On Good Friday Britons eat warm hot cross buns. The cross on top of the buns symbolizes and reminds Christians of the cross that Jesus carried. There is even a song about hot cross buns!!!

EASTER SUNDAY EASTER DAY • People eat boiled eggs on Easter Sunday at breakfast with the family. • After breakfast people go to church for a service to celebrate Jesus rising from the dead.

EASTER BUNNY Easter bunnies are an important symbol in the UK. You can see them everywhere. Children believe that if they are good, the bunny will bring them many chocolate eggs

• In the afternoon families organize egg hunts for children. Children have a lot of fun looking for dyed eggs hidden in houses or gardens

• At home, everyone gives each other chocolate eggs. • In England children get big ones filled with sweets.

• Around 80 million chocolate eggs are eaten each year in Britain.

• Roast lamb is the traditional meat for the main meal on Easter Day. It is served with mint sauce and vegetables.

• The traditional Easter desserts are custard tarts … …and Simnel cake
