Special mechanism to extend the 10 years validity of the modules and the examination credits provided that no evolution of the basic knowledge occurs during the last 10 years. Type examination (when no training is required): Examination + practical experience must be completed within 3 years prior to application for licence endorsement. Maximum: 3 consecutive attempts with: 30 days waiting period after 1 st attempt. Q 60 days waiting period after 2 nd attempt. Q 1 year waiting period after 3 rd attempt. European Aviation Safety Agency Update on Part-M for General Aviation The Agency published Opinion 02/2008 on 15 May 2008. Opinion 02/2008 discussed by the EASA Committee (EASA, Commission and Member States) in Brussels on 16 July 2008. Some changes were introduced and translation to all EU languages was performed. The Commission transmitted on 17 September 2008 the final proposal to the Council and the Parliament for their urgent opinion. Final adoption expected before the end of October 2008. In the meantime, the current provisions of Part-M are applicable for aircraft not involved in commercial air transport since 28/09/2008. Nevertheless, Member States may use the provisions of Article 14 of the Basic Regulation to derogate from this immediate need to comply with Part. M (exemption). 22 October 2008 EAMTC / Madrid 20

European Aviation Safety Agency Update on Part-M for General Aviation The final text sent to the Parliament and the Council includes: possibility for the Member States to defer the entry into force of Part-M until 28. 09. 2009 for aircraft not involved in commercial air transport, possibility for the Member States to defer until 28. 09. 2010 the need to comply with Part-66 for certifying staff involved on non-large aircraft not used in commercial air transport. European Aviation Safety Agency Fuel tank safety As a result of NPA 22 -2005, Decision 2007/003/R had been approved by the Agency, modifying Part 66 (AMC) (Awareness and detailed) training plan for personnel involved in the continuing airworthiness management the maintenance and amendement of the part 66 basic knowledge syllabus. Q All registered users have the possibility to receive notifications whenever a new NPA or CRD is published. Q Once a comment is saved it is allocated a unique number which confirms the comment was successfully saved. Q This number will also be used in the CRD.
