Earth’s Layers Analogy Activity In this activity, you will be comparing a familiar object and its parts to the Earth and its layers. You will use your critical thinking skills to create an analogy about the Earth’s layers, then compare the similarities and differences between your object and Earth’s layers.
Instructions: 1. Go to your google classroom 2. Click on Earth’s Layers Analogy Activity 3. In the box on the right hand side of your screen labeled “Your Work” click on the add or create plus sign. 4. Under the options, click on slides 5. A new slide presentation will appear. Click layout and choose the slide format you want to use. I used title/body and title/two columns. 6. Create an analogy that compares a familiar object and its parts to the Earth and its layers. (see my example) 7. YOU MUST HAVE MINIMUM OF 4 SIMILARITIES AND 4 DIFF ERENCES 8. 9. YOU MUST INCLUDE TWO PICTURES Hit the turn in button when you are finished. DO NOT SHARE YOUR PRESENTATION WITH ME
The Earth is like a peach because: Similarities: ● ● ● The Earth is round The skin of a peach is thin like the crust of the Earth The peach has a solid center (the pit) like the Earth has a solid inner core The meat of the peach is the thickest layer like the mantle is the thickest layer of Earth The peach skin has bruises and fuzz like the Earth’s crust has mountains and oceans. Differences: ● ● The skin of the peach is unlike the crust of the Earth which is broken into pieces. The solid pit inside the peach is different from the inner core because it is not as hot The skin of the peach does not have the ability to bend and stretch like the Earth’s crust The meat of the peach is not a liquid like the outer core of the Earth
