About us • Miller Research – Based in Monmouthshire – 20 years experience working in Wales – Undertake research and evaluation work across a range of sectors across the UK • Meurig Roberts – 20 years working in Welsh Government across youth work, public health and education
Our aims • Provide insight into the implementation of the EYIS Programme • Understand reasons why things are working and why things are not working • Support the Pathfinder PSBs (and any who follow) by sharing best practice and identifying potential issues • We are not seeking to identify a ‘one size fits all’ model of implementation or pass judgement on individual Pathfinder PSBs

Our approach so far • Desk-based evidence review • Initial interviews with Project Coordinators/stand-in Coordinators • Discussions at November workshop • Review of documents shared by Project Coordinators • Online questionnaire (to prepare for this session)
Headline findings • The context for early years integration in each PSB area is unique, although there are some common factors • There is a some variation in understanding of what the EYIS Programme is trying to achieve • There are measurable plans in place in all PSB areas
Today’s task • Discuss in-depth three key (? ) themes: – Existing degree of integration between early years programmes – Role and background of the Project Coordinator – Staff resources/capacity within early years
Our next steps • Further develop our theories • Test them through in-depth fieldwork with some Pathfinder PSBs • Feedback our findings to you and Welsh Government
