What is the EYFS? -Core document that sets the standards for development and learning - Introduced by the Department for Education - Applies for children ages 0 -5 years -The EYFS outlines what needs to be in place to support children -Play based --States milestones and expected levels children should be meeting. The milestones are 7 areas of learning and development -Ensures children are kept safe - The EYFS is issued by the law and it must be followed

Why 3 of the areas of development are classed as prime Prime areas are fundamental for children to succeed in the specific areas. Children always experience the world from communication, language, physical and sensory play. Personal, Social and Emotional Development is crucial as children learn to interact effectively and develop positive attitudes with themselves and others.
Go back to being 3 & 4 year old Draw a picture of your family and label the family members. Once finished put how many family members you have drawn at the top of your picture. Stick men are fine!
