Stretch Concept This Concept is a play designed to get the defense moving laterally across the field to create seams for the runningback to cut upfield. Each lineman is working to reach and overtake the next man on or off the LOS. The end man on the LOS may make a Fold Call with the next man inside based on defensive alignment. Playside must get off the ball aggressively with power to create movement at the POA – dent the defense. Never allow penetration; if the down defender wants to run laterally, take him all the way to the sideline. Backside linemen get off the ball with speed in mind, sealing off backside pursuit while attempting to reach 2 nd level defenders. ZONE BLOCKING RULES If you are UNCOVERED, zone with your teammate to the playside. If you are COVERED, look at your backside (away from playside) teammate. If he is COVERED, you will block your defender man-onman. If he is UNCOVERED, he will double team/combo block with you towards the LB. Covered Linemen – Attempt to rip your backside arm and shoulder through the defender’s playside armpit. Over reach and rip under the defender to slow him down for the uncovered lineman. The wider the
