Akustische Korrelate / linguistische Beschreibung von Prosodie Segmentale Ebene verbaler Äußerungen: Sequenz von (konsonantalen / vokalischen) Sprachlauten (organisiert in Worte und Phrasen) Suprasegmentale Ebene = Prosodie: - Intonationskontur (Grundfrequenzverlauf, F 0) - Lautstärkemodulation (Schalldruckpegelverlauf, SPL) - Rhythmus (Verhältnis der Silbendauern) Sidtis & van Lanker 2003

Foreign Accent Syndrome I: § Definition: „monolingual patient is frequently mistaken for being a non-native speaker“ ASHA-Leader 15. 08. 2006 § wichtig: - Patienten leiden unter ihrem „Akzent“, haben also Störungseinsicht - teilweise als Konversionsneurose verkannt § Häufigkeit: ca. 40 Kasuistiken in der Weltliteratur (Reha ca. 1 Patient / Jahr)
Foreign Accent Syndrome II: § Ursache: meistens zerebrale Ischämie, seltener Schädel-Hirntraums, fraglich MS § Lokalisation: - zwei Fälle einer RH Läsion in der Literatur - ansonsten LH betroffen: operkulärer Kortex (Broca-Areal) oder Basalganglien § Pathomechanismus: Variante einer Sprechapraxie ?
Foreign Accent Syndrome III: § Sprachpathologisches Profil: - segmentale Ebene (Konsonanten, Vokale) - Entstellungen, Auslassungen (Deletionen), Substitutionen - suprasegmentale Ebene (Prosodie) - „skandierender“ (silbischer) Rhythmus - Intonation verändert § Therapie: ? ?

Linguistische und paralinguistische Funktionen von Prosodie Linguistische Prosodie: Pragmatische Prosodie: Affektive Prosodie: - Wortakzent (umfahren / umfahren) - Sprecherintention (z. B. Ironie) - Emotionen (Freude etc. ) - Satzakzent / -fokus (Das hat er gesagt) - Dialogsteuerung (Wortübergabe) - Persönlichkeit (z. B. Sicherheit) - Satzmodus (Das hat er gesagt ? /!) „Hearing of Emotions“: Experiment 1 Question: - Correlates of affective prosody perception? - Influence of emotional valence? Tasks: 1) Recognition affective prosody (5 emotions) 2) Vowel detection
Identification of Emotional Intonation R affect - vowel - affect L R L GFI (BA 47) SPM 99, n = 10, T > 4. 30, k > 20, p < 0. 05
Processing of Emotional and Linguistic Intonation Wildgruber et al. 2005
„Hearing of Emotions“: Experiment 2 Question: Affective prosody = right hemisphere? Linguistic prosody = left hemisphere? Stimuli: 70 pairs of intonational variants of the following sentence: “Der Schal ist in der Truhe” Tasks: 1) Discrimination of affective prosody 2) (Expressiveness: Which of the two utterancs sounds „more intense“? ) 2) Discrimination of linguistic prosody (Which of the two utterances represents an answer to the question: „Where is the scarf? “)
Emotional and Linguistic Intonation R emotional - linguistic - emotional L L R GFI (BA 47/11) n = 10 subjects, SPM 99, T > 4. 30, k > 27, p < 0. 05 (corrected)
Methodological considerations Experiment 1: Affect recognition Vowel detection Suprasegmental Segmental Level Experiment 2: Affective prosody Linguistic prosody Suprasegmental Level

Brain 126; 2003: 1691 -712 „. . . bilateral or unilateral lesions. . . within the OFC can impair emotional voice and/or face expression identification, but significant changes in social behaviour and in subjective emotional state are related to bilateral lesions. “
