Build or Renovate? • Full renovation to make DVES comparable to DDPS and SES approx. $16 million • New school approx. $23 million • Major drawbacks of renovation include: • age of building (1956) • probable closure for one full school year • still higher operating costs than a new, more efficient building • no additional field space
Build on DV campus or new site? • DV campus is approximately 54 acres • 1956 – 1 school (combined HS/MS) • 1970 – 2 schools (HS and MS) • 1987 – 3 schools (HS, MS and Elementary) • 2001 – 4 schools (2 HS, MS and Elem. ) + field house • Other additions to HS/MS and D. O. • District Enrollment • 1987 – approx. 1, 500 2013 – approx. 4, 900 • Desire to decompress this campus • Desire to move elementary away from HS
