Application# ◦ 2) Schedule Compass Test with the library at 906 -248 -8418. ◦ 3) Fill out DE application, turn into BHS office (every semester) https: //www. bmcc. edu/sites/default/files/uploaded/bmcc_dual_public_school_enrollment_application_11. 1. 16_tmk. pdf ◦ 4) BHS will sign form and submit with the transcript to BMCC ◦ 5) Check email for BMCC registration email containing username and password to register: ◦ Register at Student records: https: //empowerweb. bmcc. edu/fusebox. cfm
BMCC Cont’d ◦ 6) Check email for BMCC Successful registration email ◦ 7) You order your textbooks from available sites, (amazon, mbsdirect, etc. ) – Brimley Schools will reimburse students/parents up to $100 for textbooks per course. Submit your receipts to the high school office. ◦ 8) Check academic calendar for important dates: http: //bmcc. edu/academic-calendar ◦ Student should have the books necessary and ready to start by the start date of the semester, January 16 th this semester. ◦ BMCC has a 3. 0 requirement ◦ Course should be part of the Michigan Transfer Agreement – so that it can transfer to other colleges/universities. We will not pay for course that you cannot earn college credit for.
BMCC Courses that are approved ◦ English Composition – 2 semesters, Communications, College Algebra, Economics, Corrections, Education, Geography, History, Native American Studies, Psychology, Political Science and Sociology ◦ Eligible Course – 388. 513(1)(d) o ◦ Course offered by an eligible postsecondary institution for postsecondary credit. ◦ Not offered by eligible student’s high school (or is not available to the student due to an unavoidable scheduling conflict). ◦ Academic in nature: ◦ ◦ Normally applies toward satisfaction of [postsecondary] degree requirements. Not ordinarily taken as an activity course. � Not a hobby, craft, or recreational course. ◦ In a subject area other than physical education, theology, divinity, or religious education. ◦ For subject areas assessed on a readiness assessment or the Michigan Merit Examination, eligible courses are limited to those subject areas for which the student has achieved a qualifying score. - Not required for computer science or foreign language courses. - A district may elect to support a student’s enrollment in a subject area that the student has not yet achieved a qualifying score if it has been determined to be in the best educational interest of the student.
