Removing Runway Beams Installation steps • Outside APA must be in final position, cabled and fully tested • CPA must be in final position and fully tested • Shuttle beam is bolted to “runway beam stub” • Shuttle beam trolleys are now removed • Downstream Runway beam is now removed, it can not come straight down must be moved to the south then rotated to clear Field Cages and cable trays 3 13 January 2021 DSS Runway and Shuttle Beams
Shuttle beam trolly design This was an issue that came up at Ash River. Best design practices to minimize shuttle beam racking is the distance between the wheels and cam followers should be a minimum of 4 times the width of the beam (~24”).
