Explanation of Drug Administration PCP can be ingested orally, snorted, smoked, or injected. Smoking is the most common method of PCP use. PCP can be pressed into pills or put in capsules and swallowed; when ingested orally, effects are felt in 30 to 60 minutes and last 6 to 24 hours. Leafy material such as mint, oregano, tobacco, or marijuana is saturated with PCP, and subsequently rolled into a cigarette and smoked. PCP is typically used in small quantities; 5 to 10 mg is an average dose.
