Terms: n Appearance: The way someone or something looks Making a good first impression is very important. Once someone has an impression of you it can be hard to change it. One’s physical appearance is the first thing people use to form an initial impression. It is human nature to draw conclusions about individuals based on what we see in front of us. What does your appearance say about you?
Types of Dress: n Professional: dressing in clothing that does not stand out This is the preferred dress of those in professions such as: Administrators, Lawyers, Senators, and Business Professionals.
Professional or Formal Business Attire for Women
Types of Dress n Business Casual: Dressing professionally, looking relaxed, yet neat and pulled together. This type of dress is for professions such as Teachers and often considered the “Friday” dress for professional employees.

Personal Grooming for an interview: Men n No facial hair is expected. Men should remove facial hair. A short hair cut in a conservative style is expected. Cologne should never be strong. A fragrance can cause an allergic reaction or offend the interviewer. n n Women Do not over accessorize. Avoid dangling earrings and wear no more than one ring per hand a dress watch. Be sure all jewelry focuses on the face. Keep it simple. Perfume should never be strong. A fragrance can cause an allergic reaction or offend the interviewer. Use natural-looking makeup and clear nail polish. Make sure your hair is clean, neat and professionally styled. • Apparel should be clean and neatly pressed. • Apparel should fit well and remain in place while sitting and/or walking • Remove body piercings other than ear piercings. • Visible tattoos should be covered to avoid distraction.
