The deal was estimated to be at $1. 6 billion
FIGURES AND STATS • As of right now, Dreamworks feature films have grossed an estimate of $14. 457 billion worldwide. • Dreamworks highest grossing film right now is ‘Shrek 2’ that brought in around $919, 838, 758 for the company • The most viewed Dreamworks trailer on You. Tube is a trailer for 2016 animation, ‘Trolls’, with 29 million views as 39, 000 likes • Dreamworks was also included on Forbes in November 2011 on a ‘ 100 Best Small Companies’ list coming in at #93 with a market cap of $1. 5 billion also
TEAM MEMBERS • There are many roles needed when it comes to an established animation company • For example, on 2005 film Madagascar, there were roles such as: Directors (Darnell and Mc. Grath), producers (Cheng and Soria), production design (Cronkhite) and many more • There also many departments needed, which include: Art department, sound department, animation department, music departmen, casting department and editorial department.
MEDIA PLATFORMS • Dreamworks Animation uses the basic way of using media when it comes to a new film coming out • You. Tube is used to post trailers and sometimes small clips • Nowadays, Twitter and Facebook pages for the film post trailers also, essentially advertising at the same time • This al very obviously creates a buzz for the upcoming animation • A company as popular as Dreamworks will almost definitely send its film to cinemas and then eventually DVD after some promotion of the film (red carpets, interviews etc)
MY ANIMATION COMPANY VELVET ANIMATIONS MARIA BOREHAM
FUNDING AND OWNER • My company, ‘Velvet Animations’ will be funded by its parent company, ‘Dreamworks’ as well as being funded by advertisements and fundraisers • As stated, the ‘owner’ or ‘parent’ of my company is Dreamworks Animation’
VELVET ANIMATIONS • My company specialises in distributing animated films from all over the globe that are suitable for a more mature audience • The films promoted can appeal more to an older audience who still like to watch animated movies but like the more mature atmosphere • This essentially means the movies will have more adult like humour and overall concept • The company was founded in 2015 and is still a relatively small company but is still growing • Velvet Animations has its headquarters based in Glendale, California • With my company I hope to let the older audience know that they are still able to watch animated movies without feeling childish or have others deem it childish for themselves, the more ‘mature’ aspects will hopefully do this overtime
