Your first week of assignments includes many drawings that you must hand in for grading. The following list is what you will be graded on: You should have several extra sketches show attempts to get it right on all of these exercises. You also must indicate by using shadowing techniques and line where a ligth source is coming from. • Day 1: draw 3 sample head indicating where facial features will lie realistically. This should be sketchy. (Each head is worth 33. 3 points out of 100) • Day 2: draw 2 pairs of eyes realistically as possible showing proper spacing between each eye and include eyebrow. You should have several extra sketches show attempts to get it right on all of these exercises. You are also required to draw one eye from a side view. (Each pair of eyes is worth 40 points and the side view eye is worth 20 points out of 100) • Day 3: draw at least six noses as realistically as you can. 3 frontal views and 3 side views are required. (Each nose is worth 16. 6 points out of 100) • Day 4: Draw 6 mouths as realistically as you can and one must be open and show some teeth. Remember the teeth overlap and do not go straight across. (Each mouth is worth 16. 6 points out of 100) • Day 5: Draw 6 ears as realistically as possible and try at least two different angles of view. (Each ear is worth 16. 6 points out of 100) • Day 6: Draw at least 5 styles of hair, short and long. Then do one more drawing that is either a curl or a braid. (Each hair drawing is worth 16. 6 points out of 100)

• This is 6 separate sheets of paper of drawing exercises you will do in 6 to 7 days. Next you will be given half of a print out of a celebrity face that you are to finish off using graphite pencils. • That last drawing is considered a project. The others are just assignments. Remember I grade on your efforts. If you are doing bad drawings and just whipping them out with very little effort so you have time to goof off in class do not expect a good grade. How ever if you try very hard and work very hard and do not feel you have good drawings, do not worry. I grade your efforts. I do take notes in my grade book on class room behavior. • Your Project assignment will include learning how to graph a picture of a skull, half of it, and marrying it with drawing the other half as a human face. The next few slides are samples to show you what I mean.

The next section of this slide show is for the advanced students. They will review human face proportions in order to be able to distort them in a surrealistic way. The best artist for this is Salvador Dali. Born on May 11, 1904 in Figuere Spain Salvador was encouraged to draw at a very early age. He studied art at an academy in Madrid Spain. “In the 1920’s he went to Paris and started interacting with artists such as Picasso, Magritte, and Miro, which led to Dali’s first Surrealistic phase. ” He is best known for his painting called “The persistence of Memory” which was an image of melting clocks. Dali lived till 1989. He lived a long life of creativity, 84 years! https: //www. biography. com/people/salvador-dal-40389

Advanced art students, here is your next project: You are to create a drawing

Advanced art students, here is your next project: You are to create a drawing using human facial features. The features must be somewhat realistic but used surrealistically. I will start with showing you drawing by Salvador Dali and end up with more found on PINTEREST. You are to sketch out your plans in pencil and then go over it in either oil pastel or chalk pastels. You may also work in conte and or charcoal. But first I need you to do a few practice drawings and here is what I want on one page: 1. a pair of eyes 2. a nose 3. a mouth 4. an ear 5. a hairstyle All are to be separate drawings on one page. This way I can work with you on realism before you change into surrealism. This portion is a grade assignment. For the project it must use a human face in a surrealistic form of sorts.
