1. Teritorijalno-politički pojam Bosne
a) Kontinuitet terit. i imena Bosne: od ranog evr. i južnoslav. sred. vijeka. , prvih spomena Bosne i bos. bana iz 10. st. - pa do danas – to je izuzetak u odnosu na balkanske zemlje aa) Povijest Južnih Slovena, općenito Balkana - povijest seoba, ne samo naroda, nego i njihovih država, od kojih su neke, ne samo „selile“ već mijenjale i svoja imena; ab) Srbija (od Raške do Dunava), Hrvat. (od Jadr. do Save i Drave), C. Gora (4 nahije oko Cetinja), Slov. (od Koruške do Kranjske), Maked. (od Egejske do Vardarske), Albanija (od Prizrena i Bitolja do Tirane i Valone)
b) Bosna „od Save do mora i od Drine do Cetine“ (u vrijeme Stjepana II Kotromanića) prvi pomen 949. g. kao male zemlj. oko izvo-ra istoimene rijeke ca) Bos. je u pogl. stabilnosti terit. bila histor. izuzetak (nije „selila“ niti se cijepala), njeno središte oduvijek je bio prostor saraj. -visočko-zeničke kotline; cb) Cijepanje Rim. carstva na Ist. i Zapadno (Teodosije 395. g. ) bitno je odredilo historijsku sudbinu Bosne kao granične zemlje između istoka i zapada – pravosl. i katol. ; cc) Od ranog sr. v. , Bosna kao granična zemlja između Bizanta i Franačke, kasnije Srbije i ugarsko-hrv. kraljevs. nastoji izboriti i očuvati svoju drž. u samostalnost; .
2. Porijeklo i značenje imena Bosna (tri grupe mišljenja: (1) tračko ilirsko, (2) donijeli Sloveni, (3) po predslavenskom imenu rijeke a) Prva gupa: to su mišljenja po kojima je ime „Bosna“ ostalo od nekog starijeg naroda prije Slavena (tračko, ilirsko) b) Druga gr: polaze od mišljenja da su Slav. koji su doselili na područje današnje centr. Bosne donijeli to ime sa sobom (analogija: Srbi, Hrvati) c) Treća gr: u nauci se smatra da imena svih desnih pritoka Save, pa i rijeke Bosne imaju predslav. ime (u pis. izv. – 1000 godina, Hercegovina - od 1449. )
3. Nastanak bosanske feudalne države
a) Konstantin Porfirogenet (prvi pomen Bosne, sredinom 10. st. – gradovi : Katera i Desnik u srednjoj Bosni) aa) Za prostor Bosne od 7. do 12. st. - od doseljavanja Slovena do početka banskog razdoblja), nema puno historijskih izvora; ab) Prvi spomen Bosne. : Konstantin Porfirogenet „De administrando imperio“ – mala zemlja (horion Bosna) sa dva grada: Katera i Desnik (sredina 10. st. ); ac) Pored Bosne, Porfirogenet spominje i neke druge oblasti i mjesta koja će kasnije postepeno ući u sastav bosanske države (Salines, Nertljanska oblast – Paganija); ad) Za Visoko sa šir. okolinom, kasnije središte srednjovj. bos. drž. uglav. se koristio naziv Bosna (uključujući i župe Vrhbosnu, Vidogošću, Lepenicu, Trstivnicu t. j. Kakanj), Lašvu i Brod - Zenica).
b) Nastajanje drž. : 1. faza – pretfaza, raspadanjem rodovskih zajednica, završ. krajem 11. st. , Dukljanin piše: velika zemlja od Gor. Vrbasa do Drine ba) U procesu raspadanja rodovskih zajed. i objedinjavanja plemena, radi odbrane, u sar. -visoč. kotlini, pojavljuju se prve instucije vlasti i države. - odakle se ime Bosna prenosi na susjne, pa i dalje obasti; bb) Prva faza – pretfaza stvaranja bosanske srednjovjekovne države završeno je krajem 11. st. - prije drugih susjednih južnoslovenskih država, zbog relativne udaljen. od Carigrada i Rima; bc) Pop Dukljanin u svojoj hronici Bosnu opisuje kao veliku zemlju od Drine do Gor. Vrbasa, ravnopr. sa Raškom i Hrvat– skom, na čelu sa banom (avar. osn. bajan)
4. Ban Borić (1154. – 1163. )–i prije njega postojalo drž. jezgro, pojavljuje za vrijeme bizantsko-ugarskih ratova - na ugarskoj strani a) I samo često spominjanje Bosne i njenog bana, posredno govori o postojanju te državne jezgre i prije Borića; b) U vrijeme biz. -ugarskih ratova 1154. – 1164. za prevlast na Balkanu bio na ugarskoj strani, učestvuje u opsadi Braničeva, u Srbiji (hroničar Kinam); c) Nakon neuspješne opsade Braničeva i ugarskog povl. preko Dunava i Borić se povlači sa vojskom u Bosnu; d) Imao je znatnu vojsku, jer je car Manojlo Komnen odredio „najhrabriji dio vojske“ da krene u potjeru za njim; e) Kinam (Epitome) izričito navodi da Bosna nije podč. nijedn. okoln. vladaru. „nego narod u njoj ima poseb. nač. života i upr. “
5. Kulin ban (veliki bosan. ban - Culin magno bono Bosniae, prije 1180. – 1204. ) a) Upamćen kao srećni vladar, plem. i moćni muž (poč. pol. ekon. stabiliz. i širenja B. , koja se razvijala uporedo sa susjednim drž. , trgovinsko otvaranje, pomak kultur. Životu; b) Došao na vlast kao bizantski vazal prije smrti Manojla Komnina 1180. (koji je bio zagospodario Dalmacijom. , dijelovima Hrv. i Bosne) i def. utvrdio temelje b. drž. samost. c) Kulinova Bosna – već izgrađ. i stabil. drž. različ. naziva: vojvodstvo (ducatus), regio, terra, districtus, banatus (banovina), te na kraju regnum (kraljevstvo), sa zaokr. teritorijom, drž. apar. , kancelarijom i prihodima – kulturni napredak zemlje d) Kulinova Bosna prostirala se od Drine do Grmeča, sa oblastima: Bos. , Usorom, Soli, Donjim Krajima oko Sane (on je jedini vladar koji je ostao u nar. tradiciji „Od kulna bana i dobrijeh dana. . . “)
6. Povelja bana Kulina (29. 8. 1189. ) a) Krajem 12. st. čitav Balkan zahvaćen procesom feudalizma; u Bosni je formiran domać vlastel. sloj; ubrzano jača trgo- vina, posebno s Dubrovnikom - tri veća trga: Vrhbosna, Visoko, Drijeva; b) Povelja – potvrda samobitn. i u vel. mjeri samostalnosti B. , „Ja, ban Bosanski Kulin. . . “ kao i svaki patrimonijalni vladar, smatra se gospodarem cijel. drž. terit, pa zato i može garantovati slobodu trg. po svom „vladaniju“ ; c) Kulin je imao izvršni i prinudni aparat vlasti, kao garanciju zaštite dubrov. trgovcima i dvorsku kancelariju kao završni stupanj izgr. feud. drž.
7. Hereza i Sabor na Bilinom Polju
a) Nakon denuncijacije (prijave) zetskog kneza Vukana 1199. , papa Inoćent III poziva Ugarsku da udari na Bosnu i iskorijeni herezu aa) Krajem 12. st. Bosna je središte bogumila, a Crkva bosanska stub bos. autonomnosti (i sam Kulin ban sa ženom i sestrom prihvata herezu i „prevodi“ 10. 000 hrišćšćana u tu vjeru); ab) Iako se i ranije u Rimu znalo o herezi u Bosni, o tome je prvi pismeno izvijestio papu Inoćenta III zetski knez Vukan, 1199. , a papa pozvao Ugarsku da interven. u Bos. ac) Ugarski kralj Emerik prihata poziv kao šansu za ostvarenje ugarskih pretenzija na Bosnu, koje su pojačane poslije 1102. g. kada je ugarskoj kruni pripojena i Hrvatska ad) Tako se već od 1137 -38. u tituli ugarskih kraljeva redovno pojavljuje i ime Rame, odnosno Bosne (Ramae)
b) Reagovanje Kulina bana na prijetnje Rima i Ugarske: piše papi da prihvata sve zahtjeve Rima, dolazaka Kazamarisa, abjuracija ba) Našavši se pred zajedničkim prijetnjama Rima, Ugar. , Nemanjića i srpske pravoslavne crkve - mudri Kulin piše papi da prihvava sve što se od njega traži samo da izbjegne rat; bb) Papa šalje u misiju svog izaslanika Kazamarsa da ispita stanje hereze u Bosni; bc) Dolazak papinog izaslan. Kazamarisa, sabor na Bilinom polju poč. apr. 1203. („Učenje bos. krstjana u suprotnosti sa učenjem katoličke crkve“)
c) Akt o abjuraciji, Bilino polje, Zenica, 8. 4. 1203. , Kazamaris nije uspio dokrajčiti herezu u Bosni, papa šalje u dominikance ca) Na zahtjev Kazamarisa, starješine bosanskih krstjana i sam ban Kulin potpisuju akt o odricanju od heretičkog učenja, uz obavezu da će poštovati učenje. rimske crkve, 8. 4. 1203. ; cb) Da bi potvrdio potpisani akt, Kazamaris je u Ugarsku poveo banovog sina i još dvojicu crkvenih starj. , koji su pred kraljem i Kaločkim nadbiskom „ponovili u ime svoje braće i bana Kulina, zakletvu da će se pridržavati svih datih obaveza. “; cb) Kazamaris nije dokrajčio bos. herezu, naprotiv, ona dobija na intenzitetu, na što papa šalje dominikance. u Bosnu, koji su upotrebljavali i silu – i naišli na još veći otpor naroda
8. Ban Matej Ninoslav (1232. -1250. ): odbrana i feudalizacija Bosne
a) Stalni napadi na Bosnu zbog hereze organizuju se u vrijeme krstaških ratova (1096. – 1270. ), što pogoduje jačanju hereze aa) 30 -god. period od Kulinove smrti, 1204. do dolaska bana M. Ninoslava 1232. , obilježen je jačanjem hereze, borbom protiv ugarskih kraljeva, ali i jačanjem oblasnih feudalaca; ab) Uporedo sa organizacijom krstaških ratova (1096. – 1270. ) rimske pape, zajedno sa ugarskim i hrvatskim velikašima nastoje konačno uništiti bosansku herezu (koja je jačala), a ustvari da uništisamostalnost Bosne; ac) Nije uspio krst. pohod ugar. -hrvatskog kralja Andrije II na Bosnu, 1225. (Kaločki nadbiskup nije uspio prikupiti dovoljno vojske „da Bosnu, Usoru i Soli očisti od hereze. “)
b) Kralj Ninoslav: veći problem s neposlušnim feudalcima, nego sa herezom – prelazi na katoličanstvo, Koloman dobija ovlaštenje pape da udari na Bosnu Ban Ninoslav dolazi na vlast 1232. - nije bio opterećen herezom (koja se širila i na Slavoniju), već neposlušnim velikašima (koji su dotadašnje župe pretvarali u vlastite feude i u velikoj mjeri osamostaljivali se od vladara; ba) Prešavši na katoličanstvo, prije 1233. , Ninoslav se žali papi Grguru IX da se baš njemu (koji je prešao na katoličanstvo) njegovi velikaši ne pokoravaju i uskraćuju mu prava na župama koje su njegovi preci uživali; bb) Na to je papa, ovlastio hrvatskog hercega Kolomana, sina ugar. kralja, 1235. da vrati stare običaje „na korist vjere, a na propast heretičke opačine“, t. j. 9. Franjevci u Bosni a) Zbog neuspjeha skoro 100 -godišnjeg djelovanja dominikanaca protiv bosanske hereze, na poziv kralja Stefana Dragutina 1292. godine papa na isti zadatak u Bosnu šalje Franjevce; b) Blagom pastirskom riječju umjesto inkvizicije, Franjevci brzo potiskuju dominikance i postaju značajan faktor u vjerskom, kulturnom i etnopolitičkom razvoju Bosne; c) U svoje redove primaju domaće ljude, koji se približavaju vladaru i u posljednjoj deceniji bosanskog kraljevstva potiskuju crkvu bosansku, što ranije uspjelo svoj sili ugarskih i srpskih kraljeva;
10. Dinastija Kotromanića Kratak pregled: - Vlada u Bosni od 13. do 16. stoljeća; - potječe od bana Prijezde (1254. – 1287. ), sjedište porodice je u župi Zemljak, u gradu Kotoru - sada Kotor Varoš. - Po gradu Kotoru naziva se sin bana Prijezde Stjepan I „Kotroman“ (1287. – 1316. ). - Nasljednik Stjepana I “Kotromana” je Stjepan II Kotromanić (1316. – 1353. ); - Kraljevi su: Dabiša, Jelena, Stjepan Ostoja (od njega potječe pobočna loza Ostojića), Tvrtko II (od njega potječe pobočna loza Tvrtkovića), Stjepan Ostojić, Stjepan Toma (od njega potječe pobočna loza Toma-ševića) i Stjepan Tomašević (pogubljen nakon pada Bosne pod Osmansku upravu 1463. )
a) Poslije smrti bana Ninoslava 1250. , Ugarska je raskomadala Bosnu na više oblasti, Bribirski knezovi aa) Nakon ugarskog osvajanja Bosne, samo je u užem dijelu ostao na vlasti rođak bana Ninoslava, ban Prijezda, osnivač dinastije Kotromanića; ab) Bribirski knezovi Šubići koriste borbu za hrvatskougarski prijesto između Arpadovića i Anžujaca kako bi zavladali Bosnom (dobili titulu bana); ac) 40 -tih g. 13. st. , zauzeli su Šibenik i Skradin (u čijoj je blizina njihova nasljedna župa Bribir), potom Trogir, Split, Zadar i donji tok Neretve, a zatim se okrenuli Hrvatskoj i Bosni;
c) Pavao Šubić, koristeći dinastičke sukobe u Ugar. , uzdiže se do prave dinastičke moći i samozvano dodjuje titulu bosanskog bana svom bratu Mladenu, 1302. ba) Tadašnji bos. ban Stjepan I Kotromanić pružao je odluč. otpor protiv ekspanzije Šubića: kad je u tim borbama poginuo i sam Mladen Šubić I 1304. , za gospoda-ra Bosne Pavao Šubić postavlja svog sina Mladena II Šubića; bb) Umjesto ratom, Mladen II svoje ciljeve u Bosni pokušava ostvariti vazalnim vezama sa dijelom bos. vlastele u međuvremenu se Kotromanići čvršće vezuju za Nemanjiće (pošto se ban Stjepan I Kotr. oženio Jelisavetom, kćerkom srpkog kralja Stefana Dragutina;
11. Stjepan II Kotromanić (1322. – 1353. ). a) U dinastičkim borbama (u međuvremenu) za ugarski prijesto, Anžujci su pobijedili Arpadoviće, skršena je moć hrvatskih velikaša, prije svega Šubića; b) Novi bosanski ban Stjepan II Kotromanić mudro je stao na pobjedničku stranu Anžujaca, privukao vlastelu Donjih Kraja – Hrvatiniće i ponovo učvrstio domaću dinastiju; c) Ban Stj. II Kotromanić – vladar „krupnih poteza“ – odlučno stajući na stranu Roberta Anžujskog, stabilizovao je odnose sa Ugarskom, uveo Bosnu u registar evrop. drž. ; d) Definitivno oformio i učvrstio Bosnu kao geopol. pojam i zavladao „od Save do mora, od Cetine do Drine“. (udao kćer Jelisavatu za ugarskog kralja Ludovika I Anžujskog 1353. );
12. Kralj Tvrtko I Kotromanić (1355. – 1391. )
a) Kao sinovac bana Stj. II Kotrom. , Tvrtko I nastavlja ubrzano širenje Bosne, porazio Ludovika I i njegove krstaše, 1363. aa) Ugarski kralj Ludovik I: nakon pobjede nad Mletač-kom i zaključenja Zadarskog mira 1358. , teži potčiniti Bosnu: primorao Tvrtka (1) da mu preda zap. Hum, (2) podržao neke velikaše, (3) – pokrenuo krstaške pohode na Bosnu (i doživio od Tvrtka težak poraz svojih krstaša kod Srebrenika i Jajca); ab) I pored sjaj. pobjede nad krstašima, voljom krupnih feud. , Tvrtko I - zbačen s vlasti u febr. (dovode njegovog brata Vukca), a vraćen na prijesto u martu 1363. i to uz pomoć svog doskora protivnika Ludovika I; ac) Za samo 2 g. , (1) rješava se bilo kakve zavisnosti od Ludovika I (2) uspostavlja punu vlast u zemlji, pridobivši na svoju stranu krupnu vlastelu, uglavnom, poklanjajući im posjede.
b) „Instinktom feudalca u usponu“, koristi raspad Dušanovog carst. i u savezu sa Laz. Hrebeljanovićem 1373. proširuje bosansku granicu čak do Raške i Boke Kot. ba) Kako je bio u daljem srodstvu sa Nemanjićima, smatrao je da mu pripada „dvogubi vjenac“, t. j. kraljevska kruna Bosne i Srbije, pa je odlučio da dođe na prijesto „sv. predaka“ kao Stefan Tvrtko, „Hrista Boga kralj Srbljem, Bos. i Primorja“. bb) Krunisan je na Mitrovd. 26. i 27. 10. 1377. u manastiru Mileševi kod Prijepolja - dodao je sebi ime Stephanus („Vjenčani“, „ovjenčani“. , koje su nosili svi srpski vladari, a kasnije i njegovi nasljednici)
c) Nakon krunis. , u maniru velikog državnika okreće se zapadu, ali šalje pomoć knezu Lazaru na Kosovo, 1389. - odred vojske pod vođst. Ludovika I, 1382. , zauzima hrv. jadransko primorje i proširuje svoju kraljevsku titulu kao „po milosti Božijoj kralj Raške, Bosne, Dalmacije, Hrvatske, Primorja“ cb) U doba Tvrtka I, Bosna je bila privr. razvijena i politički važna država Balkana i Evrope. , „okupljala“ je znatan dio hrvatskih i srpskih zemalja, ali kao feudalna država nije imala ni srpsko, ni hrvatsko obilježje; cc) Anektirajući Bosni okolne isključivo južnoslavenske zemlje, bio je u izvjesnom smislu „prvi jugoslovenski kralj“;
13. Hum – Hercegovina a) Definit. pripajanje Humske zemlje bos. drž. izvršio je ban Stjep. II Kotrom. , 1326. , - njeno ime vezuje se za uspon i međus. borbe bos. vlastele (Hranići, Pavlovići, Kosače); b) Tako je vojvoda Stjepan Kosača, pored Podrinja, zavladvši Humom, 1448. , da bi podig. svoj ugled, dobio (uzeo) naslov „hercega od sv. Save“, jer je manastir Mileševa, gdje su ležale kosti Save Nemanjića bio u njeg. posj. ; b) Od tada se cijeli prostor od Ostroga (Nikšića) na ist. do Imotskog na zapadu i od Konavala na jugu do Ivan planine na sjeveru, počeo nazivati, umjesto Humskom, Hercegovom zemljom (Hercegovina). ; c) Ulaskom Huma u sastav Bosne – pojavljuje se pravosl. stanov. u većem, a Herceg Stjepan kao „pataren“ prih-vata heretike, koje sred. 15. v. progoni kralj Stjepan Tomaš.
14. Feudalna anarhija u Bosni
a) Smrt kralja Tvrtka I, 1391. , kraj uspona i poč. propasti bos. drž. – osamostaljuju se krup. feud. , na prijesto dolaze slabi vladari ba)U poslj. deceniji Tvrtkove vladavine postavljeni su temelji razorne moći tri krupne velikaške porodice: kne-ževa Hrvatinića, Hranića-Kosača i Radinovića- Pavlovića: bb) Tako umjesto Tvrtkovog sina, krupni feuadlaci (u prvom redu Hrvoje Vukčić) na prijestolje dovode Tvrtkovog sinovca Dabišu (1391. – 1395. ); bc) U periodu od oko 30 g. poslije Tvrtka I, desile su se brojne promjene na bos. prijestolju – isključivo po volji najužeg velikaškog sloja. (Hrvoje Vukčić, najmoćniji feudalac); bd) Nakon Dabišine smrti, 1395. g. , opet voljom vlastele na prijesto dolazi njegova udovica Marija Gruba (1395. – 1398. );
b) Stjepan Ostoja i Tvrtko II – u periodu od 1399. -1443. ) u dva navrata , naizmjenično, zauzimaju bosansko prijestolje ba) Stjepan Ostoja – prva vladavina: samo tri godine kasnije, 1399. , umjesto Marije Grube velikaši dovode na vlast kralja Stjepana Ostoju, iz jedne pobočne grane Kotromanića (1399. – 1404. ) bb) Tvrtko II – prva vladavina: tek 1404. , punih 13 godina nakon očeve smrti, na bosanski prijesto je, opet voljom vlastele, došao sin kralja Tvrtka I, Tvrtko II Tvrtković. (1404. - 1409. ) bc) Stjepan Ostoja – druga vladavina: pet g. kasnije vlastela ponovo vraća na prijest. kralja Stjepana Ostoju (1409. 1418. ), kojeg za kratko vrijeme nasljeđuje njegov sin Stjepan Ostojić (1418. – 1420. ) bd) Tvrtko II – druga vladavina: od 1420. na prijestolju je opet, sve do svoje smrti 1443. , kr. Tvrtko II (1420. – 1443. )
15. Kralj Stjepan Tomaš (1443. – 1461. ): progon heretika a) Stjepan Tomaš, naslj. 1. Pojam i definicija a) Crkva bosanska je, u pogledu vjere, bila dominantna u srednjovjekovnoj Bosni – imala je svoje starješ. , svoju hijerarh. i organizaciju, prvi put se spominje u jeddnoj povelji Stjepana II Kotromanića, 1325. ; b) Jedan je od mnogih izdanaka manihejstva, kao sinteze tradicionalnog perzijskog vjerskog dualizma dobra i zla, sa elementima kršćanstva; c) Tu je sintezu uobličio perziski vjerski učenjak Mani (Maniheus) još u 3. st. n. e. za vrijeme dinastije Sasanida, koja se proširila po cijelom Rimskom carstvu kao vjera siro-mašnih slojeva i obespravljenih; d) Manihejstvo se kasnije u Evropi preplelo raznim socijalnim antifeudalnim pokretima

3. Učenje Crkve bosanske
a) Crkva bosanska je zastupala određeno dualističko učenje – što je, po shvatanju ka-toličke i pravoslavne crkve, nepravovjerna doktrina (hereza) aa) Španski dominikanac, kardinal i „veliki inkvizitor“ Tomas de Torquemada (Torkemada), 1461. g. opisuje učenje Crkve bosanske – kao dualističku i antikršćansku herezu; ab) U svom učenju Bosanska crkva je, navodno, polazila od vjerovanja da svijetom upravljaju dva načela: dobro i zlo; ac) To su ustvari dva boga, od kojih je prvi tvorac duhovnog, a drugi fizičkog svijeta – i koji su u stalnom sukobu;
b) Torquemada je tvrdio da je, po uč. Crkve bosanke, prvo načelo „duhovno i bestjelesno“, a drugo „zlo i tjelesno“, t. j. „vidljivo“. ba) Prvo načelo bosanski heretici su zvali „bogom svijetla“, a drugo „bogom tame“; bb) Učenje nastalo u Bugarskoj u 10. stoljeću imalo je izrazito antifeudalni karakter (propovijedalo asketizam, odricanje od vlasništva i zakletve. . . ); bc) Uspostavljen je povijesni kompromis između feudalnih snaga i jednog, u osnovi antifeudalnog pokreta, kojim je obilježena cjelokupna povijest Bosne;
4. Organizacija
a) Izabrani i obični: u redovima Crk. bosans. , razlikovali su se: izabrani ili savršeni, „pravi krstjani“ (svega nekoliko stotina) od običnih vjernika, zv. „mrsni ljudi“. aa) Hijerarhija: strojnici su bili svi savršeni, izabrani, t. j. svećenici, niži strojnici su se zv. starci, a viši gosti, na čelu „did“- često u diplomatskoj i upravnoj službi države i vladara ab) Osim „hiža“ za crkvene starješine višeg ranga (svega 20 -tak), crkva nije imala drugih vjersk. građevina, zemlje, ni duhovnog poreza – zajedničke molitve obavljale se u prirodi;
b) Politička uloga: faktor feudalnog partikularizma i održanja državne samostalnosti ba) U odbrani od centralne vlasti, koja ih je najčešće progonila u ime katoličanstva, Crkva se vezuje za krupne feudalce; bb) U isto vrijeme bila je i faktor odbrane državne samostalnosti: u krstaškim pohodim iza kojih su bile druge namjere, Crkva se našla prva na udaru „pravovjernih“ država; bc) Igrala je ključnu ulogu u odbrani od svih spoljnih nasrtaja na Bosnu (održala se uz podršku „svoje države“ i sa podrškom „svojoj“ državi - u svojevrsnoj simbiozi);
5. Historijska uloga a) Pri kraju perioda svoje samost. , Bosn postepeno mijenja svoju vjersku sliku: pored pripadnika Crkve bosanske, tu su i pravosl. (Hum, istočne granice) i katolici (srednja Bosna - franjevci); b) Zbog relativno kasnog razvoja gradova (sa vjerskim tradicijama) i slabih veza sa seljacima, ni jedna crkava nije imala čvrst oslonac u bosanskom seljaštvu, niti značajniji uticaj – što će kasnije otvoriti put masovnijem prihvatanju islama; c) Prihvatanje islama od strane brojnih Bosanaca bilo je rezultat dinamizma nove vjere i države, a ne neke bošnj. navodne predisponiranosti za konverziju zbog pripadanja heretičkim učenjima, kako se to nekad misli i piše.

1. Definicija a) Bosna je bila staleška monarhija, na čijem je čelu bio vladar ili monarh, koji je u velikoj mjeri zavisio od staleških odnosa u feudalnom saboru, odnosno od volje krupne vlastele; b) Još od bana Kulina i Mateja Ninoslava država je imala izgrađenu srukturu centralne i lokalne vlasti: (1) centralni organi bili su: vladar i sabor; (2) lokalni organi bili su feudalci po osnovu svojih imunitetskih prava;
2. Vladar
a) Nisu dolazili po principu primogeniture, ali su - od bana Ninoslava pa nadalje, po volji vlastele - dolazili iz iste vladarske porodice Kotromanića a) Za razl. od ostalih zemalja, vladari Bosne nisu dolazili na prijesto ni po principu primogeniuture (gdje prvorođeni sin nasljeđuje oca), ni po princ. majoriteta (gdje najstariji brat nasljeđuje umrlog vladara), već isključivo voljom krupne vlastele; ab) Svi bos. vladari – od bana M. Ninoslava, pa do pro-pasti Kraljevstva dolazili su (ipak) iz istog roda – Kotro-manića (zadrž. shvatanje da je gospodar države u stvari čitav rod – kao što je taj isti rod bio gospodar plemenšti-ne, odnosno velikih feudalnih posjeda); aa) Bosanska. vlastela je kod promjene na prijestolju postupala jako grubo i samovoljno (primjer: smjene na bos. prijestolju poslije smrti Kralja Tvrtka 1391. godine).
b) – 1. Prihodi bos. vladara dolazili su iz više izvora: od plemenitih baština, raznih taksi, Stonskog dohotka ba) Od „plemenitih baština“ (kao i svi feud. gospodari) i i zakupa rudnika (koji su se smatrali vlasništvom vladara) i carina – obično od Dubrovčana; bb) Razne takse: „bolanje“ srebra (označavanje žigom), pomorske (lučke) takse i kovanje novca (kao i u svim srednjovjekovnim zemljama isklj. pravo vladara–regalije); cc) Stonski doh. (od 1333. kada je Stjepan. II Kotromanić ustupio Dubrovčanima Pelješac i Prevlaku, bosanski vladari su uživali kao naknadu od 500 dukata godišnje);
