WHAT COPYRIGHT LAWS APPLY? All copyright laws apply to dramatic and artistic works. Title 17 is the copyright law of the United States code.

WHY ARE COPYRIGHT LAWS IMPORTANT TO THIS TOPIC? These copyright laws are important because they allow the creator to take credit for their work and to give the creator ownership.

HOW CAN COPYRIGHT BE INFRINGED? Copyright can be infringed by using the work of a creator protected by copyright law without the permission of the owner.

HOW DOES “PUBLIC DOMAIN” APPLY TO THIS TOPIC? An idea for dramatic and artistic works cannot be copyrighted.

DOES “FAIR USE” APPLY TO THIS TOPIC? (IF YES, HOW? ) Yes, fair use says that part of the copyrighted work can be used without permission.

WHAT ARE THE PENALTIES FOR INFRINGEMENT? You get a legal fee of up to 150, 000 dollars. The Court can impound the illegal work. The infringer can possibly go to jail.

HOW DO COPYRIGHT RULES AFFECT TEENS ON THIS TOPIC? Copyright rules have an affect on teens because they plagiarize many times and don’t realize that they’re doing it. They think they wont get caught, so they don’t take these rules seriously.
