Thespian board was such a valuable experience, it taught me a lot about responsibility, and being part of a team. I know that if I were to be on board for this upcoming year, I could continue to grow, but also help others in the department to grow. ”

I have taken a lot of hits in my life (and a few this year with theatre), but I have always managed to overcome it, and bounce back from it stronger than before. I try to be a very positive person, but some things can severely get me down. But, I work through it, try my absolute hardest, chalk it up, and take it as a learning experience. I am a strong believe that everything happens for a reason, and that some lessons need to be learned the hard way. I’d be honored to receive a leadership role again next year for something that I am so passionate about. Madi Wells Grade 2020 -21: Senior Leadership Experience: STUCO, Grades 10 -12 Leadership, Grades 11 -12 Junior Class Officer Event Planning/Running Favorite Musical: Dear Evan Hansen Dream Role: Veronica from Heathers 3 Words To Describe Madi’s Leadership: Uplifting, Collaborative, Inclusive
Madi Wells What is something that only you can bring to the Drama Board? “Something only I can bring to the drama board is experience in multiple different leadership positions. I am very heavily involved at Oak Park and take up a lot of responsibilities in many different clubs and activities and do a really good job at balancing it all. I can bring in different aspects from everything I’ve learned from all of the clubs I am involved in. I also have a lot of different ties and relationships with people from these clubs that I could turn to for help with promotion, fundraisers, attendance, etc. ” If chosen, what are goals you have that you want to achieve while on board? “If chosen, while on board I want to be able to bring theatre department closer to other clubs and activities. As a whole, theatre department is very welcoming and loving family, but I feel like other people in the school possibly don’t feel as connected to it or want to be involved in it simply because they honestly don’t know what exactly it is or what we do. So, I think that we could do something with other clubs where we are able to promote both clubs/activities at the same time. For example, perform something at an assembly through the Leadership class. It would effectively help out both clubs because leadership would be able to bring something new to the school other
Madi Wells Why do you want to be on the Drama Board? “I want to be on drama board because I love Oak Park theatre and being able to interact with all of the amazing people that come with it. I did not join theatre until my sophomore year and was never able to join an actual theatre class. This led me to think I would miss out on a lot of opportunities as a thespian and somehow be seen as less qualified because of it. Spoiler alert: I was very, very wrong! I have been given so many amazing opportunities being involved in theatre and being on the drama board is very important to me because I want to be a representative that you can do anything in this theatre program if you just set your mind to it. I want to show that there are no limitations to how far you want to go in this program even without the normal “requirements” many people set their minds for leadership roles like this. I want to be able to inspire others to want to get involved in our program and expore what they love, just like I did. ”
Madi Wells
Olivia Zuniga Grade 2020 -21: Junior Leadership Experience: House Manager (1 x) Publicity Manager (1 x) Chik-Fil-A Trainer Favorite Musical: Waitress Dream Role: Lydia from Beetlejuice 3 Words To Describe Olivia’s Leadership: Honest, Brave, Compassionate
Olivia Zuniga What is something that only you can bring to the Drama Board? “I think I am a very honest person. I think I would bring honesty, in the biggest way we could have. I would like to learn to be more honest in a KIND way, but I do it in a way that would make the truth come across the right way. ” If chosen, what are goals you have that you want to achieve while on board? “A goal I would like to have is to make an effort to let everyone know that in and out of theatre family, that they are important. I feel that so many people part of theatre family feel that they are not important, or that the work they do is not important. I want them to understand that it’s not. That even the smallest things, could bring the biggest smiles!”
Olivia Zuniga Why do you want to be on the Drama Board? “I want to be on the drama board because I feel that this is something that could truly help me grow. I love aging, it makes me feel like I am growing into my personality. I want to grow. I want to be kind, brave, honest, smart, and selfless. I feel that being on the board will show me the huge love we have as a family. This family continues to show me more and more that you can be anything you want, so also, in a weird way, putting me on the board would be a way of saying thank you. Thank you for putting up with me, and showing me I can be better than what I think people want from me. Thank you for putting me in my place when I had a bad attitude. Thank you for letting me be a part of a family, even when I didn’t deserve it. ”
