How the big idea came to life. � He worked for a company called 3 M and was asked to find a stronger glue, but he made the exact opposite it was a glue that could stick and unstick easily - also it was very weak. He thought that his invention would be useful. He had a solution but didn’t know the problem. Yet.

Mr. Persistent � Mr. Persistent was a nickname people gave him for being so persistent for finding a use for his invention. But then another scientist was having trouble with his bookmark because it just kept falling out. He wanted it too stick but not ruin the paper, so he thought of Dr. Spencer Silver’s invention and together they found out the purpose of the sticky note.

Marketing � In 1977, Dr. Spencer Silver’s company started selling the sticky notes to book shops and libraries, but they got a bad review. So they sent it off as samples and people saw how useful they were and they bought them and they started to spread all over the world like a rash.

Fun facts Ø Did you know that it takes approximately 506, 880, 000 notes to go all around the world? Ø Another fun fact is that sticky notes back in the old days were only yellow because that was the only coloured paper, he could afford to get.
