DPS Quick Guide Obtaining a User ID & Password June 2020 1
Basic Information Ø Where to start: v In order to create an account or sign into an existing account, go to: www. move. mil Ø Acronyms: v Defense Personal Property System (DPS): This is where your application is created. 2
Getting Started This is the move. mil homepage. From here you can log in to your DPS account, find resources and other information. RETURNING USERS: Click “Sign in to DPS” NEW USERS: Click “create a new account” 3
DPS User Registration After reading the statement above click “OK” 4
ETA Registration All fields require input. When finished entering information, click “Register. ” 5
Confirmation Your account has been created. You will receive an email with your new User ID and instructions to log into your account. If you do not receive an email notifying you that your account has been activated, contact the DPS System Response Center (SRC). They are available 24/7 to assist you with your password issues. Their toll-free phone number is 1 -800 -462 -2176 option 5. 6
Activation Email You will receive an email from the DPS Administrator that contains your new User ID and a link to obtain your access key. Click the link or copy and paste into your browser. Follow the instructions below the link. TIP: Your User ID is unique to you and not the same as your original approval notification; please make note of your new User ID. 7
Logging In After following the link back to the move. mil homepage, click “Sign in to DPS” 8
Logging In Click ‘Accept’ button to acknowledge DOD Security Banner. 9
Logging In As instructed by the activation email Click “Log in with User ID” 10
Logging In Click “Forgot Password” 11
Recover Password Enter the User ID given to you from the Activation email (Reference slide 7). Once entered click “Submit” 12
Creating a Password An email should be sent to you allowing you to “reset” your password. 13
Creating a Password When you receive the email, open it and click “Reset Password” 14
Creating a Password You will be prompted to create and set a New Passwords must be at least 15 characters, contain one uppercase letters, two lowercase letters, two numbers and two special characters. SAVE YOUR PASSWORD! Write it down and keep in a safe place. Once you have created and confirmed your new password Click “Submit” 15
Creating a Password After clicking “Submit” This should pop-up. Your password has been set and you can go back to login. Go back to the Move. mil homepage to login 16
Logging In After going back to the Move. mil homepage, click “Sign in to DPS” 17
Logging In Click ‘Accept’ button to acknowledge DOD Security Banner. 18

Logging In Now enter your User ID given to you by the activation email (reference slide 7) and enter your own self created Password. Then click “Sign In” 20
Logging In After clicking “Sign In” this screen will pop-up. Give it a moment and you will be redirected to the next screen. 21
Logged In You have now been logged in to your DPS account. 22
DPS Homepage (New User) From your DPS Homepage: 1. Check the box next to the words “I have reviewed the…” 2. Click “Create Profile” Note: If you have never used DPS before, you will need to acknowledge your branch of service information. Click the blue words “United States Navy specific information” Note: the words will change depending on your branch of service (i. e. Navy, Air Force, Army, USMC, USCG) A new window will open with your branch of service information; once you have read the information, close the window to return to your DPS Homepage 23
DPS Homepage (Returning User) RETURNING USERS If it has been 30 days or more since you accessed your DPS account you are required to review and update your User Profile. Ø Click “Review User Profile”; follow the prompts for information. 24
