Welcome to EBSCO’s downloading e. Books tutorial. In this tutorial, we will look at how to download e. Books from e. Books on EBSCOhost. To download e. Books , e. Book downloads must be enabled by your library. In addition, you must have a personal My EBSCOhost folder account.
If you need to create a My EBSCOhost folder account, click the Sign In link in the top toolbar and then click the Create a new Account link to provide your information. After creating your account, you are automatically logged in and can begin searching for e. Books.
We’ll begin by conducting a Basic Search on business. Enter your search terms and click Search.
From the Result List, click the Download (Offline) link to begin downloading an e. Book to your computer.
Select a Checkout Period from the drop-down menu and click the Checkout & Download button. The e. Book is added to the Checkout area of the folder. Please note, Adobe ® Digital Editions must be installed on your computer in order to read downloaded e. Books. Digital Editions is a free download and is available from the Adobe ® website.
Select Open with or Save File from the resulting dialog box. If you select Open with, your e. Book is opened with Adobe® Digital Editions. If you select Save file, the e. Book is saved to your computer and can be opened with Adobe® Digital Editions at a later time.
When a downloaded e. Book is opened, it is displayed in Adobe® Digital Editions.
Using Digital Editions, e. Books may be transferred to a compatible device, such as the Barnes & Noble Nook or the Sony Reader. Simply plug your device into the USB port of your computer and click the Library View icon in the top left of Digital Editions. Your e. Books and e. Book device are displayed. Select an e. Book to transfer and drag and drop it onto the icon for your connected device in the left column. The e. Book is transferred to your device. Disconnect your device from your computer to begin reading the e. Book.
If the e. Book you have chosen to download is in use by another patron, and if your library offers Hold capability, you have the opportunity to place a hold on the e. Book, so you may download it when it becomes available. Enter your e-mail address in the field provided, and click the Place Hold button.
The e. Book is placed in the Holds area of your My EBSCOhost Folder. When the e. Book is available, you are notified via the e-mail address you provided, and the e. Book appears in the Checkouts area of your folder.
