Toileting • Please make sure your child is able to use the toilet independently.

Eating • Please help your child to cut and eat their food by themselves.

Eating • Please help your child to cut and eat their food by themselves. • We encourage all children to eat something during the day however please do not be alarmed if they come hungry. • Getting used to eating in a different environment can be a big step for children but their teachers will support them in this.

Day time naps/Bedtime • We do not have a nap time during the Reception

Day time naps/Bedtime • We do not have a nap time during the Reception day. • However, we do understand that the children can become tired during the first few weeks back at school. • Please try to put your child to sleep at a reasonable hour so they are able to fully engaged in the school day.

Maths • Help your child develop their maths skills by: – Pointing out numbers

Maths • Help your child develop their maths skills by: – Pointing out numbers in the environment (buses, doors and page numbers) – Encouraging them to count simple amounts of items – Pointing out shapes in the environment

Phonics • We teach all children phonics in Reception. • Phonics uses the sounds

Phonics • We teach all children phonics in Reception. • Phonics uses the sounds the letters make blended together to read words. • We teach a distinct phonics lesson 4 days a week. • Please try to use phonic sounds rather than letter names when reading with your child at home. • HELP YOUR CHILD TO READ WORKSHOP: date TBC

Homework • Due to the current situation we will not be sending homework home.

Hours of the day • The Reception school day starts at 9: 00 am

Hours of the day • The Reception school day starts at 9: 00 am due the current situation. • Please enter through the street gate next to the Nursery – walk down and wait at your child’s classroom gate. All gates have been clearly labelled. • It is important that everyone is at school on time so we can make the most of learning time. • The school day finishes at 2. 50 pm due to the current situation. Please wait at your child’s classroom gate for your child to be dismissed to you.

Free lunches • All children in Reception, Year One and Year Two are entitled

Book bags • All children must have a purple flat book bag to bring

Book bags • All children must have a purple flat book bag to bring their reading book to and from school in. These are also available from Fashion Mark. – Please note that Rucksacks are not acceptable.
