Austin, Texas - Lance Armstrong announced, the former pro cyclist, his resignation from chairman of Livestrong, the organization he founded in 1997. Armstrong says he stepped aside to protect the charity from losing continued support for cancer research due to the doping scandal that Armstrong has been connected to. In the same day (Wednesday), Armstrong lost two major endorsements deals with Nike and Anheuser-Busch each worth millions of dollars. While stepping down as chairman of Livestrong was Armstrong's idea, losing Nike's support wasn't.
