Basic Design (dan LAK terkait) juga bekal menuju tahap Persetujuan Desain. Dokumen Basic Design adalah produk antara yang strategis dalam Proyek RDE BATAN: Milestone sekaligus Simbol kapabilitas BATAN untuk berperan sebagai ‘desainer’ reaktor nuklir. Akumulasi pengalaman ‘engineering design’ bagi SDM BATAN. Untuk diajukan dalam proses design approval BAPETEN ataupun IAEA. Untuk dikomunikasikan lebih lanjut kepada Stake Holder Nasional lain mis.
