Evidence My evidence from this cartoon related to the prompt – I think this cartoon is being sarcastic because while it says “Southern Justice” it’s clearly trying to indicate that justice in the south is not being provided for all, and instead, the goals of the former Confederacy are still being favored at the expense of the freed slaves.
Here’s an example Historical context Specific evidence Connect context and evidence Despite passage of the Reconstruction amendments, equal rights and justice was not granted for all citizens living in the South. The federal government failed to offer full protection, and the Reconstruction governments of the South did not work to extend full justice to freedmen. (Doc A) Even with the creation of assistance such as the Freedman’s Bureau, energy was clearly shifted in favor of executing the goals of former Confederates, and freedmen remained oppressed.
