District Institute of Education & Training, (S-W) Ghumanhera, New Delhi 110073 DIET SW Ghumanhera, was established during the session 1997 -98 in DIET, Rajender Nagar. This Institute shifted to Ghumanhera in May 1998. Since its inception, this institute is actively involved in various activities towards training, research, material development and academic resource 1 support at elementary level of education.

DIET Ghumanhera has been involved in providing training related inputs to the Nursery teachers, Primary Teachers, TGT’s, Principals, Learning centre teachers, CRC’s & DURC’s, Community Leaders and other functionaries. 4

§ Pre-Service Teacher Education The PSTE Unit of the Institute has been continuously in effort to produce quality teachers to meet the educational needs and demands at elementary level The Institute feels great pride in stating that the alumni's of this institute have added bright colours in serving the nation. With the increasing demands for the teachers the intake in ETE course was increased from 100 to 150 in the year 2004. 8

Innovations & Interventions § Bridge Course (2000 -2001) : A collaborative programme of DOE, SCERT, DIET’s and NGO’s. DIET Ghumenhera co-ordinated the programme and provided academic and practical support in Six Govt. Sr. , Secondary schools of District South West. For class vi students who passed out from class V. § State house hold survey in 2003 regarding SSA. 22

§ A Lab Area Survey of Rewla Khanpur (Village Prem Nagar) a red light area near Najafgarh in 2000: DIET Ghumanhera conducted a survey in the village and it was found that the area is educationally as well as socio economically backward. There is a great scope of literacy , Health awareness and vocational training. The Institute organized learning centers and health awareness campaign. 23

§ Low Cost Integrated Science Kit: In 2007 -2008 low Cost Integrated Science Kits were developed by ETE 2 nd year during workshop and used that Kits in SEP schools. 24

• Door to Door Survey Under Dakhila Abhiyan(2000 -2001): DIET Ghumenhera co-ordinated the Door to Door Survey in Najafgarh Zone involving 200 ETE trainees to bring out school children in the age group of 6 -14 back to school. 27
