District 9 Naming Contest - Rules ELIGIBILITY: • Any youth or Scouter/Parent registered at any level in any unit of the new "District 9” RULES: Name The New District Scholarship Merit Badge • • • Provide your name idea + a reason/meaning for the name Include a pronunciation key for the name if needed Each person may enter up to 3 name ideas Inappropriate entries will result in elimination from the contest (A Scout is Kind) In the unlikely event that the same name idea is entered by two or more people AND that name idea is selected as one of the finalists, the first person to enter that name idea will be considered the winner ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE: • • • For Cubs/Scouts/Crews: Scout’s age, rank, Unit # (Pack, Troop or Crew) and Leader's Name on your entry For Scouters/Parents: Unit # and Leader’s Name Entrant’s (or parent’s) contact email and phone # ENTRIES DUE: Monday, January 4 by 11: 59 pm SEND ENTRIES TO: district 9 ptac@gmail. com 1

District 9 Naming Contest - Winning Top 3 names will be selected for Council to decide the final winner. 3 finalists will be announced mid-January. Grand Prize and Runners-up announced later winter. Name The New District Scholarship Merit Badge Top 3 names will be one name each from among: • • • Cub Scouts Packs Scouts BSA Troops / Crews District 9 Scouters/Parents Pathway to Adventure Council will choose the final name – Grand Prize: • • Grand Prize winner will receive a $100 Scout Shop Gift Card and their entry will be the name of the new District 9 The other two name finalists will be runners-up and receive a $25 Cabela’s Gift Card 3

District 9 Naming Contest - Process WE NEED YOU! We are asking for: • • • Name The New District Scholarship Merit Badge Volunteers to help narrow the entries to 25 -30 names for a ‘short list’ If you want to help please contact Rob by New Years Day 1/1/21 at RNesvacil@gmail. com This group of volunteers will meet by Zoom sometime around Jan. 4 th after the entries are all in to narrow down the entries (details to come) Once we have the ‘short list’: • • District 9 District Executive Emily Constantinou will review the list and make final decision on what the short list looks like On or about Jan. 9 th the short list will be open for Units to vote on their favorites (details to come)… – 3 votes per Unit: Units decide how to come up with their votes! Put all 3 votes on one name or use one vote to select three names – Top vote-getter from Cubs, Scouts/Crews, & Scouters/Parents advance to Council 4
