District Grants What are district grants? District grants fund smaller, short-term activities that address

District Grants What are district grants? District grants fund smaller, short-term activities that address needs in both your local community and communities worldwide. Each district gets to choose which activities it will fund with these grants. District Rotary Foundation Seminar

District Grants • • • $40, 000 available for the District 2013 -2014 year! There is no minimum award amount from for a District grant, regardless of qualified activity type. The District Fund award amount for District 5470 in 20132014 is as follows: • • $3, 000 per grant with one club participating $4, 000 with two participating $5, 000 with three or more participating Request Received by May 31 st. District Grants District 5470 Grant Considerations: You can use district grants to fund a variety of activities which will be determined by the District Grant Committee, including: • Humanitarian projects, disaster recovery efforts, small capital projects, some scholarships may be considered (departure from the past). • Some smaller international projects may be considered but local project will receive priority. International projects do not required a Rotary Club partner. • Grants will be matched with District Designated funds. • A grant may be awarded on merit alone without a club match. (Clubs participating financially will get priority). • Travel Expenses are generally not covered. District Rotary Foundation Seminar

District Grants District 5470 Grant Considerations Continued: • Proposals required for all projects • A simple grant application with supplemental information will be required before grant is approved. • Acceptance of a proposal does not guarantee a grant will be awarded. • Any certified club in District 5470 may submit a proposal. Certification • All Clubs must be certified annually by attending an in-person district provided

District 5470 Grant Requirements Overall Requirements: • A committee of at least 3 Rotarians from the sponsoring club to oversee the project. Direct involvement of Rotarians is required and they are responsible for the following: – Assessment of Community needs and development of a project plan (What-Who does it serve? ) – Financial stewardship of Grant funds - Grant funds may not be turned over to a cooperating organization. – Evidence of community involvement and ownership – Promotion of the project in local media – See check list in handout materials to confirm the project meets the requirements.
