Tips • Treat your dissertation like a class • Locate at least one or two new references a week • Use different keywords to broaden your search (“distance learning” vs. “online learning”) • Continue to narrow your concept • Do not hold on too tightly to your concept • Have a backup plan topic just in case… • Once you get your Concept Paper (CP) done, take only one class at a time
Tips continued… • Communicate with your chair regularly • Do what your committee says but ask questions • Remember - you pay for dissertation continuing services – translates to money • In all of the classwork you do, tie the material into your dissertation • References, references… • Have between five and seven research questions • Take two or three research classes
