• One of his first jobs as an artist was to draw the slides used as advertisements in motion picture theatres between changes of films. He called these slides laugho-grams and often used humorous animals to carry out his ideas. He invented a character based on a tame mouse who had become friendly enough to walk across his drawing board. Years later, he made this mouse his first animated cartoon subject. Mickey Mouse was born. • He moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1923 and set up the Disney Brothers Studio with his brother Roy.

Disney’s approach to song as a story. This quote was made in 1937 during the production of his first animated feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: “It can still be good music and not follow the same pattern everybody in the country has followed. Really, we should set a pattern – a new way to use music – weave it into the story so somebody doesn’t just burst into song. ”
