GAS Seeker’s Question/Concern Greatly Applicable Scripture • “Don’t these evangelism Scriptures really only apply to the Apostles of Jesus? ” • Acts 8: 1 -4 or Luke 9: 59 -60. Here are examples of “regular disciples/Christians” • “My conscience is clear on this issue, so don’t try to convict me about something that doesn’t need it. ” • 1 Corinthians 4: 4. “My conscience is clear but that doesn’t make me innocent. ” • “Praying just doesn’t come naturally to me. Maybe I’m not cut out for it. ” • Luke 11: 1 -4. Notice that the disciples ask Jesus to teach them how to pray. It’s learned rather than innate.

Ed Anton Discipleship Gaining Conviction what a righteous life in Christ really toispursue real Tell me your definition. Christianity/Discipleship of “Christian” Tell me your definition of “Disciple of Christ” Why is there a perceived difference? • What were “Christians” called from 30 AD to 41 AD (the date Acts 11: 26 -27 Luke 9: 5762 of this event)? Did that name change affect the righteous requirements of following Jesus? • Since “Christian” only appears 3 x in NT, how can we study out and live by these righteous requirements of being a Christian? • What’s a nest to a bird, a den to a fox, and a place to lay your head? what’s Jesus telling this man about the requirements of d’ship? • What does it mean to “follow” Jesus for this man? For you? Why would you want to? • How does Jesus restate “follow me” in v. 59 -60? How can you follow?

Sin Study • Remind the Seeker that the Holy Spirit works to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16: 8) • Pray for the Holy Spirit to expose, reprove, and convict through His Scriptures • Begin with Luke 7: 36 -50 to underscore the fact that greater conviction brings greater gratitude/grace • How can we even begin to take an accounting of our sins? While that’s not really possible, we can usually recall the first time and the most recent time that we’ve committed a sin listed in the Scriptures to be studied… then one can connect the dots.

Sin Study in GTG • While we want all seekers to be saved by grace, there is no grace if we perceive no sin. • Of course, all have sinned (Romans 3: 23); therefore, we all desperately need the grace of God (Romans 6: 23). • Thus, the aim of this study is to help seekers see themselves as our Holy God sees them: utterly sinful and separated from our God. This realization brings about a desire for both forgiveness and repentance. • Pray for the Holy Spirit to convict seekers in this study (John 16: 8).
