Assistive Technology Resources Purchasing Equipment and Loan Process
Purchasing Equipment • Wilkes Community College maintains an inventory of the most needed/used equipment such as voice recorders and Livescribe pens, along with batteries, etc. • This inventory is based off average student usage. • Budgets are reviewed each year and damaged or written-off equipment replaced in relation to student need.

Assistive Technology Loan Process • Wilkes Community College process: • Once accommodations and assistive technology needs have been determined, student makes appointment to receive equipment and training. • Equipment is signed out, and before end of semester, a reminder letter is sent. • The letter reminds students that holds will be placed on account if equipment is not returned. • The above info is entered into an equipment tracking database.
