Since May, 2013: • Closeout, awards for FY 2013 • Successfully met EHR-led NSF Priority Goal on Undergraduate STEM Education • New staff • Preparation for FY 2014 2

Lapse in Appropriations October 1, 2013 through October 16, 2013 • For EHR: – Missed several planned panels – Ideas Lab on Data-Intensive Research to Improve Teaching and Learning was conducted (as grantfunded activity) – Multiple staff activities postponed or cancelled – Curtailed events in November and December to allow time to catch up 3

December 11, 2013: Important Notice 135: Transparency and Accountability at NSF • Defining research priorities and objectives at all levels of the organization and at all stages of merit review • Improving our research abstracts, ensuring these primary sources of public information clearly articulate the broader context and funding justification 4
