Watson 2 1: Pharmacy department, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, NHS Grampian 2: Robert Gordon University School of Pharmacy and Life Sciences, Aberdeen INTRODUCTION There are four direct oral anticoagulants (DOAC) licensed in the UK and included on the NHS Grampian formulary. The Scottish Patient Safety Programme identified these as high risk medicines and reducing associated harm is high priority 1. The European Society of Cardiology DOAC guide advises that patient education is critically important 2. IMAGE The first known UK patient information video covering all four DOACs was produced jointly by the NHS 1: of Pharmacy and Life Sciences Grampian pharmacy department and Robert Gordon University School providing DOAC counselling information in an additional format. The aim of the study was to obtain feedback from healthcare professionals (HCPs) on the perceived quality and usefulness to their practice of the video, in order to guide improvement. METHODS An online SNAP survey questionnaire was developed. It included questions on demographics, overall rating of the video quality, its usefulness as a counselling tool and whether it clearly explained each of the information points. Respondents could free type additional comments. Results were analysed using SNAP software. An electronic link to the survey questionnaire was sent out to 439 relevant (stakeholder) HCPs including all pharmacists in NHS Grampian (hospital, community, primary care), relevant (likely to use the video) speciality nursing and medical staff, GP leads and cardiology pharmacists across Scotland in March 2018. A single reminder was sent at 4 weeks. The study did not require NHS ethics approval as per NHS Grampian guidelines. DISCUSSION and CONCLUSION Overall video was well received by HCPs. Qualitative comments and recommendations for improvement were acknowledged and amendments made. Video thought to be a useful tool for counselling patients with 98% (n=52) of respondents rating the video as good or very good. The study was limited by the number of HCPs (especially doctors/nurses) who responded to the questionnaire. The exact number of HCPs who received the request cannot be definitively stated as the original e-mail may have been further shared. The study confirmed this bespoke DOAC patient information video is considered to be a very useful tool to aid patient counselling for this high risk group of medicines by HCPs. A further study looking to gather patient feedback is warranted. RESULTS 53 (12%) out of 439 HCPs completed the questionnaire in full. Table 1 summarises the key results ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS NHS Fife and Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS foundation trust who kindly allowed permission to use details of their patient information videos.
