DIRECT OBJECT A direct object is a noun or pronoun that receives the action of a verb or shows the result of the action. It answers the question "What? " or "Whom? " after an action verb.
Direct objects ü must follow an action verb. ü will answer what or whom after the action verb. ü will be a noun or pronoun.

Mike wrote a letter to his girlfriend. What did Mike write? A letter

INDIRECT OBJECT An indirect object names a person or thing to whom or for whom an action is performed. If a sentence has an indirect object, it must also have a direct object. Indirect objects are only used with transitive verbs.

Mike wrote a letter to his girlfriend. For whom is the letter? His girlfriend
I bought that skirt for her. FOR WHOM IS THE SKIRT? FOR HER

A transitive verb it is an action verb that is followed by a direct or sometimes an indirect object. It is an action that is performed on something. Some sentences would not make sense unless the verb had a direct object to receive the action.

COMPLEMENT A complement is the part of a Sentence that comes after the Verb and is needed to make the sentence complete.
