DIgital Footprint: A person’s digital footprint is a trail of data they leave when using the internet. Things like sending emails, writing a blog, or posting images or videos are all included. It is important to keep your digital footprint appropriate as it is somewhat like your social image or reputation.
Google Yourself While searching my name on the internet, I was unable to find any results of information about myself, as I figured my name was too common for the internet to filter one specific person that has no relevance on the internet. I realised that this was sort of a good thing for now as nothing good or bad about me stands out on the world wide web.
Personal Brand
Questions How might your digital footprint affect your personal brand future? - There is a high chance that employers will background check you and things you have done over the internet. - Things you’ve done in the past might suddenly be relevant/exposed in the future. Why is it important to be aware of one’s digital footprint? - Could potentially harm your reputation both now and in the future - Things you post online could lead you to dangerous paths.
Safety
Questions Describe at least three strategies that you can use to keep your digital footprint appropriate and safe. - Deleting accounts on websites that are no longer of importance to you, that way you don't have to worry about things you might have uploaded to the internet that you might not be proud of in the future. - Be cautious of what you are putting on the world wide web, think about how your actions could affect your future before making the decision. - Keep accounts that might not be appropriate private as this will ensure that nobody you wouldn’t like viewing your account see it.
Digital Permanence
Questions How would you explain the concept of “digital permanence” to anyone in your spheres of influence? - The idea or concept that things uploaded onto the internet are always going to stay there no matter how much of it is erased. Why should we care and be aware of “digital permanence? ” - Because we never know when we’ll regret our decisions until it’s too late.
