SCHOLARLY COMMUNICATION By scholarly communication we mean the ways in which scholars in any field use and distribute information through formal and informal channels. (Borgman, “Digital Scholarship and the Continuum of Scholarly Communications”) By scholarly communication we mean the authoring, publishing, stewardship, and use of scholarship. Digital scholarship is the use of digital evidence and method, digital authoring, digital publishing, digital curation and preservation, and digital use and reuse of scholarship. (Smith Rumsey, “New-Model for Scholarly Communication: Roadmap for Change, ” p. 2)
