Paul was a Jew & Pharisee like his father Completely change his life for Christ We must accept God's word over our parent's word Country store measurements
If we dig deep we find we need God all the time God will be there in times of need. The social gospel is not the rock Not to draw people with bread that perishes, but by teaching concerning the bread of life, Jn. 6: 26, 27 Jesus answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal. ” 1 Cor. 14: 26 What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification. Rom. 14: 17 for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. The function of the church is not to show people a good time. Social activities will not make stronger Christians
Having a form of Godliness 2 Tim. 3: 1 -5 But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. Misapplying the scriptures Must study God's word to properly apply it 2 Tim. 2: 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. Many insincerely peddle God’s word. 2 Cor. 2: 17 For we are not like many, peddling the word of God, but as from sincerity, but as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.
Misapplying the scriptures Satan works at misapplying scriptures. 2 Cor. 11: 13 -15 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds. Men distort the scriptures. 2 Pet. 3: 16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. Distorting Scripture
We can understand God's word The scriptures were written so we can understand God's will. Eph. 3: 1 -4 For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles-- if indeed you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace which was given to me for you; that by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief. By referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, The wise will understand the Lord’s will. Eph. 5: 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. This is the rock we can build on. Hear Christ Understand Act
