Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network DRCR net Dedicated
Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network (DRCR. net) Dedicated to multicenter clinical research of diabetic retinopathy, macular edema and associated disorders. 1
DRCR Network Overview Ø Objective: • Develop and operate a collaborative network to facilitate multicenter clinical research on diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema and associated conditions. 2
ØThere have been 2716 subjects recruited for DRCR. net studies since the networks inception Ø 437 investigators have been certified for at least one protocol. 3
DRCR Network Overview Ø Funding: • • National Eye Institute (NEI) • Sponsored cooperative agreement initiated September 2002; initially through December 31, 2008 • Competitive renewal request every 5 years • Renewed from 2009 -2013 Industry collaborations Foundations (e. g. JDRF) Unrestricted gifts 4
Priority Initiatives Ø Involvement of community-based practices, as well as academic centers Ø Collaborate with industry to facilitate investigations and pursue opportunities otherwise not possible and to do so in a manner consistent with the Network’s dedication to academic integrity and optimal clinical trial performance 5
