LATVIAN RAILWAY PROJECTS Measures planned for the EU funds programming period 2014 -2020 6. 2. 1. 1. measure “Electrification of the Latvian Railway Network”: Project «Electrification of the Latvian Railway Network» , total costs 441 million EUR, incl. , 347 million EUR CF cofinancing 6. 2. 1. 2. measure «Modernization and Construction of Railway Infrastructure": Project «Modernisation of Section Sarkandaugava – Mangaļi – Ziemeļblāzma in Riga Railway Network» , total costs 25 million EUR, incl. , 21, 2 million EUR CF co-financing Project «Construction of Daugavpils Reception Yard and Access Lines» , total costs 43, 5 million EUR, incl. , 37 million EUR CF co-financing Project «Modernisation of Railway Passenger Service Infrastructure» , total costs 26, 5 million EUR, incl. , 22, 5 million EUR CF co-financing Project «Development of Daugavpils shunting yard station» has been discontinued and included in the project proposals for the EU funds programming period after 2020. PROJECT «ELECTRIFICATION OF LATVIAN RAILWAY NETWORK»

OTHER RAILWAY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

MODERNIZATION OF SECTION SARKANDAUGAVA-MANGAĻIZIEMEĻBLĀZMA IN RIGA RAILWAY NETWORK Activities: • construction and electrification of the second track in section Mangaļi – Ziemeļblāzma; • reconstruction of railway tracks of station yards; • modernization of signalling system; • construction of two-lewel pedestrian crossings. CONSTRUCTION OF DAUGAVPILS RECEPTION YARD AND ACCESS LINES Activities: construction of new Daugavpils reception yard; reconstruction of railway access lines; implementation of new train traffic control microprocessor interlocking system for the yard and access line; construction of power supply, point heating and lighting systems; construction of service buildings, motorway; construction of security and fire protection systems; improvement works. MODERNIZATION OF RAILWAY PASSENGER SERVICE INFRASTRUCTURE Goal of the project To increase the quality and efficiency of rail passenger transport, to provide convenient, safe railway services for all categories of passengers incl. passengers with disabilities, as well as to ensure safe train traffic within stations. Project activities • construction of elevated passenger platforms (21) • Installation of passenger information and video surveillance system • construction of infrastructure related to passenger service (including construction of pedestrian crossings, roads, sheds, safety barriers, fences, etc. ) Project is on preparation stage.
